Adolescent Smoking Behavior In Indonesia; A Longitudinal Study

Adolescent smoking behavior in Indonesia is increasing every year. This condition dangerous threat to the sustainability of a country. study was aimed analyze determinant factors related adolescent Indonesia. The quantitative research with cross sectional design. utilized IFLS 5 data. Sample unmarried aged 15-24 years total 4,959 adolescents. Association between status parental habits, gender, age and residence were determined by using chi-square test. We found that majority (93%) adolescents smokers who smoke maximum 10 cigarettes per day most them started regularly at 12 17 (66%). Parental habits significantly influenced (p=0.000; OR=1.397; 95% CI=1.173<OR<1.663). Gender group also affected Meanwhile, classification has no significant effect on (p=0.337; OR=0.920; CI=0.777<OR<1.090). These findings suggested efforts prevent should be more focused children live parents.
